Tēnā koutou,
Having only recently stepped into the role of Duty/Kitchen Manager after 4 years of working
at the Soup Kitchen, it’s a great pleasure to work alongside such amazing Volunteers, Sisters,
and Staff during such a challenging time as we continue to serve those most in need in our
community.
We have recently reopened our dining room back to our whānau, after 8 months of serving
takeaways during the ongoing pandemic. It’s been wonderful to see the appreciation from
our whānau and a joy to see the happiness that being together in the dining room brings.
Over the last 6 months we have provided over 26,000 meals to our whānau, using perfectly
good rescued food that would of otherwise been thrown in the bin.
We look forward to celebrating Meri Hōhepa Suzanne Aubert’s birthday with our whānau on
our June 18th dinner service and also to celebrate Matariki with a special meal being provided
on Tuesday 21st of June.
Sam Johnson
