The Knights of the Southern Cross is a society of Catholic men
committed to promoting the Christian way of life. Introduced to
New Zealand more than 100 years ago, today there are many
branches across the country.
In Wellington, members have devoted themselves to helping those
in need, being a force for good and making a positive impact on the
community. For many years, members ran our Annual Street Day
Appeal and they continue to support us with volunteer time and
annual grants for vital kitchen equipment.
Patrick McGill, Knights member and longtime Compassion Soup
Kitchen volunteer, is pictured with the result of their latest grant – a
fantastic commercial sized blender. Unsurprisingly soup features
frequently on the evening menu and this new whiz-stick can blend
over 150 liters of ingredients in record time, making speedy soup,
sauces and curries for dinner.
