Kaicycle
Kaicycle is an urban farm located in Newtown that uses natural
composting systems to regenerate soil and grow nutrient dense food
productively in the city. We are fortunate that Kaicycle have recently
started supporting us with donations of delicious leafy greens grown
by their community.
We are receiving an amazing mix of micro-greens, lettuces, edible
flowers as well as kale, silver beet and turnips, all of which go straight
from the farm into our evening meals, providing a real nutrient boost.
Be Prepared
Thanks to generous grants from the Sutherland Self Help Trust and
donations from JLL’s charity Golf Day, the Compassion Soup Kitchen
will soon be ready for any civil emergency with a new BBQ trailer. In
case of a natural disaster, the BBQ will be used as a mobile cooking
facility to help feed the vulnerable community of central Wellington
and further afield.
The BBQ will not be sitting idle day-to-day. BBQ meals are always
popular with our whanau, so it will be enjoyed over the summer
months, as well as at the Whanau Christmas Party and the annual
Volunteer Celebration.
The Realm, Hataitai
We are proud to be supported by The Realm, Hataitai, as part of
their Local Heroes programme on Wednesday nights. Donations
help us with the cost of food, so treat yourself to an evening out!
