Sister Josefa

Soup Kitchen Support

Sr Josefa is one of four Sisters of Compassion on the staff at the Soup Kitchen. She is a member of the Island Bay Sisters of Compassion community and has spent time in many places including Carterton and Fiji. She hails from the beautiful island of Taveuni – the garden of Fiji, which may account for her great talent at arranging flowers. Sr Josefa has a background in nursing the aged and has also been a member of the Leadership Team of the Congregation. She describes her role at the Soup Kitchen as ‘my adventure’ and she shares her great skills, experience and wonderful sense of humour with us all. ‘Compassion is a gift and I’m privileged to inherit that gift. In working at the Soup Kitchen I’m able to express that gift to those I work with and the guests whom we serve and love’.
