Sister Catherine is a Sister of Compassion. She taught in a school for disabled children, then in Maori schools on the Whanganui River and in an Aborigine Mission in western New South Wales, Australia. After Honours graduation in Social Science & Psychology from the University of Sydney she worked in Catholic Social Services in Wellington and Arohata Women’s Prison.
Catherine was leader of the Sisters of Compassion for many years, a member of several Church and Social Welfare boards, the Prostitution Legislation Committee, the Law Society Complaints Committee and Chair of the Board of Caritas Aotearoa NZ. She is now a volunteer at the Compassion Soup Kitchen and a member of the Wellington Homeless Women’s Trust.
